Questions & Answers
Images/Sounds
-What do I need to see the images/hear the sounds?
You need a not-too-old version of an average browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla/Netscape with Javascript enabled. To hear the sounds you will need Internet Explorer and a player installed that can handle mp3-files. Windows Media Player will do just fine. Note that Mozilla/Netscape cannot play the sounds.
-I cant hear any sounds!
If you are running Mozilla or Netscape you wont be able to hear the sounds. If you're using Interet Explorer and a later version of Windows Media Player installed but still cannot hear any sounds, your security-level for Internet Explorer has probably disabled Active-X.
The quickest way to fix this is to set the security level to 'normal' in the "security" folder in the Internet Explorer Options.
-My computer is correctly setup but I still cant hear any sounds?!
Make sure the mouse-pointer is placed right on the hot-spot. You know this when a pop-up text appears (Explorer only).
The sound might take a couple of seconds to load so have patience.
-I keep getting Javascript errors when I click hotspots to hear the sounds!
This should not happen if your computer's configuration is correct. Make sure your browser has Active-X enabled.
-Which items contain sounds?
If the hot-spot contains a sound, the popup-text will say so when you hover the mouse on it.
-Some of the sounds are just a plain beep?
That is the buzzer for leaving the key in the car or the head-lights switched on.
-I move the mousepointer but I don't see the zoom image!
Javascript must be enabled to see the close-ups. If your internet connection is slow, it takes a while to load the images.
There are over 70 images and 14 animated close-ups.
-How do I enable Javascript?
Refer to the help-file for your browser. Internet Explorer has javascript enabled all the time, there's no way of disabling it.
-This images/sounds section is slow! Do I need a really fast connection to watch it?
Yes. A high speed connection is recommended.
Videos
-When I click the roll of film, all I see in the new window is a broken link?
The files are compressed with the mpg-1 file format. Though it's an older movie file format than mpeg-2, most players (Win Media Player) are capable of handling it.
If it doesn't work for you then something is wrong and you need to download and reinstall the player. Windows Media Player is available for download on the Microsoft's website, completely free.
-I cant hear any sound?
The movies are left silent to reduce the file size. If you want to hear what a Chevrolet Caprice sounds like, visit the images/sounds section.
The Guestbook
-How do I submit an entry for the guest book?
Simply fill in the fields (some are mandatory) and press the submit-button, just like any other ordinary guest book on the web.
-Why cant I use another language than english?
Because this is an international website. Please do not disrespect other visitors not familiar with your language. Keep it in english.
-Why can't I see my entry?
Because some free-loaders have made attempts to use this guest book as a free space to advertise, all entries must now be approved for posting. Wait a couple of days and your entry will be visible in the guest book.
Chat
-How do I get rid of that clicking sound?
The clicking sound is actually the sound of your browser refreshing the screen (which is a vital chat function). To turn it off, you'll have to change the Windows settings for this particular sound.
-The time for my login and chat entries is wrong!
No, the time is presented in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)
General Questions
-What does it say on the right rear mirror?
It says "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear"
-Is that true that the tank has room for 25 gallons of gas?
Yes. An excellent way to make friends with your local gas station owner..
-What's the gas mileage?
THE most asked question from people not driving these cars.
The answer is: it takes a lot but it wont ruin your budget. Take a look in the Features section of this site for info on gas mileage.
-How is driving the Caprice in the winter? Does it start? Does it drift a lot?
This is the second most asked question from people not familiar with US cars. They all assume that America is mostly a hot country and automatically that means all US manufactured cars simply stop working in the winter.
This is all wrong. A Caprice does not drift more than a front wheel driven car if your tires are ok. Thanks to it's weight (and assumed you have good tires on it) it's a great winter car!
-Hey, wasn't that the sniper's car?
Correct. Third most common question..
-How big is it?
Take a look in the Features section of this site.
-With a trunk of that size one starts to wonder what people like to keep in it?
Probably a 12 gauge, a bodybag and a roll of police barricade tape. You never know when those things come in handy..
-What does it feel like driving a Caprice?
It is great fun! Compared to compact cars or small European/Japanese ones, the Caprice and other fullsize cars really stand out.
-Is it a fast car?
It's easy to think so looking at the engine specs. Unfortunately, the car's weight slows it down more than an average Toyota would with a V8 under the hood!
It does however keep up with a standard car of today, in some situations it even comes across as fairly swift but it's not a Corvette.
-How does it feel driving one of those dirty American cars and pollute the environment??
It's got a catalyst just like every american automobile has had since 1970! Several states in America also have had very restricted regulations on emission levels for a very long time. The European mistakenly "clean" cars didn't get catalysts as a standard option until the late 80s. So who has a dirty car?
-Can I find an emissions label anywhere on this site?
Sure, here are labels for 1985 and 1987:

Wheels & Tires
-What's the boltcircle?
It all depends on the car:
Sedan: 5 x 4 3/4"
STW: 5 x 5"
9C1 (police package): 5 x 5" (same as STW)
-What's the wheel size/back setting?
It all depends on the size and back setting of the wheel.
Most steel wheels made for American cars have the back-setting of 3 3/4" and that works fine on a Caprice
assuming that the width of the wheels isn't of an extreme size (7" or 8"). Take a look at the images below to see the well width for a Caprice sedan, maybe
they will help you out. Note: It is highly suggested to do your own measuring before purchasing any expensive wheels!
